Seek Me and Live

Updated: Apr 9, 2019

What are you seeking? Lately, I've been seeking Math curriculums for Levi. I've been seeking for a new pair of black shoes. I've been seeking for a good show to watch on Netflix. I've been seeking craft ideas for Miya and Seth.

Everyday, we make choices on what to seek based on our needs, wants and interests. It's fun to "seek". I love browsing on Amazon for new products. I enjoy "seeking" great topics on blogging, online marketing and topics on parenting.

With all these things that we could "seek" and find, I'm reminded this week to seek the Lord more than all these things. Amos 5:4 says, "For thus says the LORD to the house of Israel: Seek me and live." Amos, was a shepherd and farmer called to prophesy during the reigns of Uzziah (792-740 B.C.) During this time Israel was prosperous. It was also a time of idolatry, extravagance and corruption. During this time, they probably felt safe and seeking the Lord and keeping their covenant with Him was not on their priority list.

Seek me and live. Such a simple but yet powerful statement! What we seek reflects what our hearts desire. We seek what we think we need and what we think is important for our survival and happiness.

Seeking the Lord may seem hard and weird. It's a lot easier to look for things that we think we could actually find. With the advancement of technology, it is so amazing to me that I could ask Siri or Alexa to look for something for me and she'll find it!

His promise to us is that if we seek Him, we will find him. So, today, let's be all encouraged and challenged to seek him more than we seek security, happiness or even answers.

Psalm 24:3-6 , Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.
