Why is it important to teach number bonds?

Teaching number bonds will help your child see and understand that numbers can be "broken down" into two or more ways. They will learn that numbers can either be "broken down" into parts by adding or subtracting. It's just a visual way for them to see how to get to a certain number by adding or subtracting different numbers.

This activity is simple. Count the items in each box and write at least 2 different number bonds to show different ways to break apart the total.
