Reading can be one of those "love it or hate it" daily activity for kids. One day, they like it. The second day, they hate it. The younger your kids are the harder it is.
One way to make sure that your kids are actually "reading" or "listening" to the story is by having them do a daily reading log.
This activity doesn't have to be intense. They could write a sentence or two of something they remembered or loved from the story. They could also draw pictures, which is fun, because they get to see the story come to life based on their own imagination.
